5 Types of Commonly Used Electromechanical Switches

Switches have vital importance in the successful completion of an electric circuit. Often referred to as electronic or electrical switches, electromechanical switches are widely used in electrical circuits. There are several types of electromechanical switches used to accomplish different purposes. Toggle Switch

Rocker Switch

This type of electromechanical switch houses a button similar to a seesaw that is responsible for turning a device on or off. Rotary Switch

Rotary switches operated by turning a knob. This type of switch offers various functions depending upon the type of electromechanical device it is used for. The most common application of the rotary switch is in fans. You can rotate the knob to control the speed of the fan at multiple levels. The rotation allows the circuit to enable only as much current to flow through the circuit as needed to achieve the desired speed of the fan.

Slide Switch

A slide switch uses a slide function to open or close a circuit for electric supply. This switch uses a slide function instead of a toggle function to accomplish required current electromechanical component devices. The slide switch is best used for controlling the electric supply in smaller circuits.
